An independent, sweet, smart, 1 of a kind little diva.
Binx was born in Ennis, Co. Clare, on the 13th of January 2009. Her original name was Daisy Loves Emily šŸ™ˆ. My dad found her advert, and we made a plan to go and collect her. She was just seven weeks old — so tiny, cute and snoozy. Little did we know that this was all an act! From that very first car journey home, Binx showed us who was boss. We bought her a cute little dog bed, which she sat in for less than an hour before barking at me to let her sleep in my bed. And she has slept in my bed every night since, usually on my pillow or on Colin’s head, eating his hair! Binx loved to walk. The Prom, Esker, Ashford Woods, Renville and Curraghchase were among her favourite places. She loved exploring old castles and ruins with us, sometimes being thrown in and out of windows for her dad to catch her because there were no doors! She loved cycling to work. Rain or shine, she would have her head out of her basket, with the wind blowing through her hair. Binx LOVED her food, especially chocolate, mushrooms, pizza, McDonald’s, ice cream, crisps, cheese, chips, cupcakes and expensive celebration cakes. I once spent over a week making a huge chocolate cake, only for her to climb onto the table and bore a hole right through it! On my mum’s birthday, while we were distracted, she climbed onto the table and ate our entire Indian takeaway. She had her own ways of getting food from our friends, too. She would sneeze at them while they were eating and usually bully them into leaving her something. She knew exactly what she wanted and how to get it. When she was ready for bed and her bedtime treat, she would bark at me and wouldn’t take no for an answer, even if we had guests over. So, off to bed we would go! She loved hanging out with kids (so she could steal their food!). She loved eating out and staying in hotels. She adored all her friends and flirted with all the big dogs at work and out on walks. She loved rolling in cow poo at her babysitter Olive’s farm, and she also liked climbing into their dishwasher to lick the dishes! If she didn’t get what she wanted, she would hump any poor, unwilling leg nearby, usually Olive’s or her husband Chris’s. Binx was so clever and learned tricks quickly, especially when treats were involved. Her dad taught her to ring a bell for a treat, roll over, sit and lie down. She loved the car and going on adventures, and she would have her head hanging out of the passenger window at every opportunity. She was the face and boss of Mucky Pups Dog Groomers. She was brilliant at helping clients settle in and showed them all the best spots to mark and pee around the salon! She also made sure everyone was offered treats, but if they didn’t eat them quickly enough, Binx would happily step in and steal them herself. Binx was my best friend, my shadow and my world. She filled our lives with love, laughter, mischief and memories that we will treasure forever. She passed away peacefully at home, in our arms, in bed. She would have been 18 years old on the 13th of January 2027. Binx will forever be missed and never forgotten by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was one of a kind, and there will never be another like her ā¤ļøšŸ¾
